The reception area is equipped with two computer terminals which are used to record medical history for client pets and process transactions. Although we aim to keep your wait time minimal, we have an information board which displays timely topics related to your pet's well being. Other informational displays are found throughout the reception area. The 'open feel' reception desk was designed to give clients easy access to staff assistance. For safety, we ask that clients restrain their pets either in pet carriers or with a short leash.
We have three exam rooms that are equipped to provide the veterinarians the resources necessary to accurately assess your pet's health. All pets, whether they are admitted for routine exam with vaccinations or if they are presenting signs from a medical condition, must have an exam so that the veterinarian can see the 'whole picture' and prescribe the best possible treatment course. The veterinarians routinely work with an assistant who helps hold the pet during examination and treatment.
Our surgery room is well equipped to perform just about any surgery (excluding those that should be performed by a veterinary specialist) and ensure your pet's safety during surgery under anesthesia. All surgery tools and materials are either sterilized using an autoclave or are in an unopened sterile pack prior to use. All surgeries are performed with the aid of anesthesia, either by injection or inhalation. Your pet will receive a pre-anesthetic exam to ensure that it is healthy enough to undergo anesthesia. If the exam suggests otherwise an alternate course of treatment will be advised. A vitals monitor is used to assist the veterinarian in making sure that pets undergoing surgery are receiving the correct amount of anesthesia. A veterinary assistant is present at all surgeries to double check vitals and assist the surgeon.
Our dental area has all the tools necessary to perform deep cleaning, tooth extractions, and general dental surgery safely and effectively. Our dental x-ray machine helps veterinarians accurately access your pet's dental health to plan the correct dental procedure. All dental surgeries are performed with the aid of anesthesia, as our patients don't know to "open and say ahhh"! A vitals monitor is used to assist the veterinarian in making sure that pets undergoing dental procedures are receiving the correct amount of anesthesia. A veterinarian assistant is present during dental surgery to double check vitals and assist the surgeon.
Our laboratory serves many purposes. We are equipped to perform laboratory analysis of blood and electrolytes which provides much needed information in assessing pet health and investigating why pets are exhibiting particular signs. We also have the tools needed to perform many laboratory services; fecal (stool) analysis, urinalysis, heartworm testing and feline leukemia testing, to name a few. Our in-house laboratory helps ensure that results are obtained quickly so corrective measures can be taken soon after your pet is admitted. Samples for many other laboratory tests are sent to professional labs, generally with results returned overnight.
Our clinic is equipped with an X-ray machine capable of providing clear x-ray imagery of our pet patients. X-ray imagery is a useful tool for diagnosing pet illness and injury and for planning treatment and/or surgery.
PATIENT WAITING AND RECOVERY
All pets waiting and recovering are monitored, fed, walked, and medicated per the instruction of the veterinarian in charge of the pet's medical case. Pets that are awaiting routine medical examinations are fed per the instruction left by their owner.
Occasionally we treat pet patients who are suffering from communicable illness. These patients stay and receive treatment in our isolation room to prevent the spread of illness to other pets and people at the clinic. To further reduce exposure to sick pets (and thus reduce the spread of disease) a large viewing window has been installed in the wall between the surgery and isolation room. This viewing window allows our veterinarians and staff to easily monitor isolated pets.
Dog and cat boarders need to be up to date on vaccinations (Rabies, Distemper/Parvo and Kennel Cough for dogs, and Rabies, Feline Distemper, and Feline Leukemia for cats), as well as have a negative intestinal parasite test, and not have fleas, prior to their boarding reservation date. We also recommend boarding dogs be current on heartworm prevention.
Boarders are walked (within an enclosed yard) and fed per the owner's instruction. Many clients use boarding periods as an opportunity to keep their pets up to date on physical exams and vaccinations. If you would like to schedule these services let the receptionist know when you set up your pet's boarding reservation.
DOG WALKING AREAS (Fenced In)
All boarding and hospitalized dogs are walked within our fenced enclosure for safety. All boarding dogs at Westside are walked three times a day and dog patients are walked per the instruction of the veterinarian in charge of the dog's medical case. Clients are welcome to walk their pet on the lawn prior to their appointment.
More and more, pets are becoming a part of our families. As we grow close to our pets, coping with a pet loss or with bad news regarding pet health becomes increasingly difficult. We respect that some of our clients need time alone when coping with these situations. For those clients we offer this private room.

We are looking for a veterinary assistant or technician who is a pet and people oriented individual that will complement our dedicated veterinary care team. This position includes assisting the veterinarian with exams, treatments, x-rays, surgeries, general pet care and hospital stocking and cleaning. After-hours emergency duty is required on a rotating basis, so employee must live within 15 minutes of the clinic. This job includes 3-4 days a week and Saturday mornings 8-12 on a rotating basis. Experience with animals is preferred, but we will train the right individual.Starting pay of $9.00/hr (commensurate with experience), some benefits added with time with company.
